Wu Mingguo, a senior rice breeding scientist, received his BSc degree in Agronomy (1983) from Agriculture University of Zhejiang, China.

Research Area

He has long been engaged in rice genetic breeding and promotion work. He has successively presided and participated in various projects and programs, such as Rice Breeding in Zhejiang Province Key Project, Leap of Agricultural Science and Technology Projects, Zhejiang Province Public Technology Research of Agricultural Projects, Agricultural Science and Technology Achievements Transformation Project, Super Rice Breeding Programs, National Science and Technology Support Program, Natural Science Foundation, National "863" Program, National "973" Program, Space Breeding Project. He initiated a cooperative development agreements with a number of companies of seed industry, with the total contract amount above 4000000 yuan.

Through his efforts, Chunyou 58, Chunyou 84 and more than 10 new rice cultivars were registered,3 of them were awarded as national variety. 12 japonica CMS lines were being identified. A national patent was gained,and another national patent was declared. 6 items of right of the new plant variety was gained,and more than 10 items of right of the new plant variety was declared.8 appraisal results and 6 award achievements were gained. He has more than 50 scientific publications.
