Recommended by Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs of Zhejiang Province, and reviewed by the Judging Committee of SAFEA, CNRRI was named “National Demonstration Institution of Introducing Foreign Intellects” for the first time. Nationally, 17 institutions were selected in 2012. CNRRI was the one and only institute chosen in Zhejiang Province.

In recent years, CNRRI has achieved remarkable results with foreign experts. For example, “China Super Rice Breeding and Cultivation Integration Technology” was approved by SAFEA as National Demonstration and Promotion Base for Introducing Foreign Intellectual Property. CNRRI facilitated the development of super rice’s new variety breeding and matching cultivation technologies. Also, it promoted popularization and application of super rice varieties and technologies in china.
