On 30 May 2018, Prof. Cheng Shihua, Director General of China National Rice Research Institute (CNRRI), met with Mr. Lee Kyu-seong, Vice Administrator of the Rural Development Administration of Korea. The two sides had in-depth discussion on strengthening cooperation on rice science and technology. Gong Xifeng, Director General at Department of International Cooperation of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS) and Hu Peisong, Deputy Director General of CNRRI attended the meeting.

Prof. Cheng warmly welcomed Vice Administrator Lee Kyu-seong’s visit and reviewed the long-term partnerships between China and Korea in fields of rice breeding and cultivation. He noted the broad prospects of Sino-Korean cooperative relations in high-quality rice breeding and rice mechanized production. Vice Administrator Lee Kyu-seong introduced the present situation of rice production in Korea. He fully agrees with the orientations for expanding cooperative relations raised by Prof. Chen, expressing his hope to further push forward cooperation between the two sides in the field of rice.

During his stay, Vice Administrator Lee Kyu-seong also visited State Key Laboratory of Rice Biology and National Mid-term Genebank for Rice.
