On 31 July 2018, Director General Masudjon Sattarov from Uzbekistan Rice Research Institute (UzRRI) and Mr. Mukhammadjon Ergashev from Uzbekistan Scientific and Production Center of Agriculture visited China National Rice Research Institute (CNRRI). CNRRI Deputy Party Secretary Fang Xiang and Deputy Director General Hu Peisong met with delegates.

CNRRI Deputy Party Secretary Fang Xiang expressed welcome to delegates from Uzbekistan. Deputy Director General Hu Peisong introduced CNRRI’s history, organization and research progress. UzRRI Director General Masudjon Sattarov expressed appreciation for the warm reception offered by CNRRI. He said rice is an important food crop in Uzbekistan. Currently, the main objective for Uzbekistan rice scientists is to breed drought-tolerant rice variety and develop relevant cultivation techniques. Based on Memorandum of Understanding on Scientific Research Cooperation in the Field of Agriculture between CNRRI and UzRRI, the two sides conducted in-depth discussion on areas and ways for future cooperation.

During their stay, Director General Masudjon Sattarov gave a lecture entitled Rice Production in Uzbekistan. They also visited CNRRI affiliated State Key Laboratory of Rice Biology, National Mid-term Gene Bank for Rice, and Rice Product Quality Inspection & Supervision Testing Center of MOA.
